FAQs

Are online lessons available ?

Absolutely! We offer engaging online lessons, keeping group sizes cozy with no more than 5 children per session.

How are the groups allocated ?

We organise children into groups as below. Everyone begins at the Roosters level, regardless of their year group, and progresses through each stage at their own comfortable pace—no pressure, just steady growth.

  • CodeMix Roosters (year 3 and above)

  • CodeMix Birdies

  • CodeMix Bunnies

  • CodeMix Porcupines

  • CodeMix Storks (year 8 and above)

How to enrol ?

To enrol, please enter your child's details using the 'Register' tab. We will respond via email with suitable availability options for your child, along with payment information.

How is progress tracked ?

We are excited to use ClassDojo app to manage group classroom. We will provide weekly feedback, share contents, manage attendance, provide assignments and rewards to children participating in the group lessons. Every child will get a student login and parent will receive a link to follow. This setup fosters seamless collaboration between the tutor, child, and parent.

How are online lessons conducted ?

Our online sessions are conducted via Zoom, with Miro as our primary collaboration tool. Each session is designed to be highly interactive, allowing the tutor and children to work together to explore concepts. We focus on practicing a variety of examples within a fun, relaxed group environment.

Are there one to one lesson and in person lesson ?

We offer both one-on-one and in-person lessons. Please reach out to discuss availability and further details.

What is the duration and cost for these lessons ?

Each child receives one lesson per week, with each session lasting 60 minutes. As an introductory offer, we are providing 4 classes per month for £40, available through December 2024.

New 12 week courses starting from Jan 2025. Please enquire for more details.

What are the tools you will be using ?

Our lessons will feature a mix of CodeMonkey, CodeSpark, Scratch, and PurpleMash, chosen to match the rhythm and needs of each class as students progress. Zoom will be our virtual classroom, MIRO will be our interactive workspace, and ClassDojo will handle weekly updates, rewards, and attendance. We're always on the lookout for innovative tools to enhance the learning experience, and we’re excited to introduce new resources to our students whenever they fit!

How is the curriculum designed ?

Our lessons are thoughtfully crafted to align with the KS2 national curriculum, and as we grow, we’ll follow a similar approach for KS3. CodeMix was born from a desire to inspire children to see Computer Science as one of their top GCSE choices. With that in mind, we’ll gradually introduce concepts that seamlessly connect with the GCSE syllabus, paving the way for a future in tech.
